Description

The term pharmaco/toxicokinetic refers to the prediction of the time-dependent concentrations of a compound in a living organism. Physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modelling consists in describing the relationship between the external dose and the internal dosimetry using parameters related to the anatomy and the physiology of the individual and using physico-chemical properties of the contaminants. The goal of the PBPK model is to simulate the toxicokinetics of contaminants in humans, i.e. the amounts or concentrations in different organs/tissues, under various exposure conditions.
